Subramanian Swamy signature analysis
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy loves controversy. And he has created one again. He has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recommending that he should “terminate the appointment of Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan effective immediately or when his term ends in September”.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, Swamy has accused Raghuram Rajan of “deliberately attempting to wreck the Indian economy”, and contends that the RBI governor is “mentally not fully Indian since he continues to renew the Green Card issued to him by the US government”.
“These actions of Dr Rajan lead me to believe that he is acting more as a disrupter of the Indian economy than the person who wants the Indian economy to improve. Moreover he is in this country on a Green Card provided by the US government and therefore mentally not fully Indian. Otherwise why would he renew his Green Card as RBI Governor by making the mandatory annual visit to the US to keep the Green Card current?”
People who follow Indian politics know that Subramanian Swamy and his firebrand politics cannot be ignored. He is dreaded by his political rivals. You may ask Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
In fact, a senior columnist has written: “When Subramanian Swamy makes you his enemy, you can bid goodbye to peace and tranquility. The powerful and the corrupt cringe when Swamy decides to anoint them Public Enemy No 1….”
After his recent comments against Raghuram Rajan, there has been a virtual war between Rajan and Swamy supporters. Interestingly, both sides have cogent arguments to support their claims.
Some say Rajan is probably the best thing that happened to the Indian economy in a long time. Many others beg to disagree; they say his allegiance lies with the Congress party, which brought him from Chicago to India as the chief economic advisor.
Well, this is not the space for Indian economy or politics. So, I will restrict myself to what we do here: analyse handwriting. So, let’s take a look at the signature of Subramanian Swamy.
Swamy’s self-importance
The first thing that strikes me about his signature is his consistent illegibility. In all the samples I have, his signature is illegible. If Swamy’s name was not there under the signature (within brackets), it would have been difficult to say who the undersigned is.
According to signature analysis, that when the signature is consistently illegible, it implies that the writer is telling the world: “You really should know who I am, and if you don’t, it is your loss!” In other words, the illegible signature is indicative of a certain arrogance and self-importance.
Mysterious personality
Subramanian Swamy signature also indicates that it is tough to read Swamy’s mind. He likes to keep his cards close to his chest. It’s unlikely you can know him well by just listening to him because he has an inclination to withhold facts and restrain inner feelings.
Probably, even people close to him in his public life may not know much about what he thinks and feels. It is clear from his signature the controversies he creates are unlikely to be random; in fact, they could be part of a well-thought plan.
However, that’s not to say he is necessarily being dishonest by concealing information; he may just want to be secretive. For some people, being tight-lipped is a professional necessity. As a matter of principle, I do not blindly trust people with illegible signatures.
Sharp & sarcastic
Subramanian Swamy signature also reveals he is a quick thinker. He is utterly fast and sharp in his responses. And as we already know from his frequent appearances on TV, he can be very caustic in his choice of words.
Look at the sharp right end of the t-bar in ‘Best’. It suggests that he is an exceedingly sarcastic person. Usually, people with such sharp t-bars spoil their relationships with others because they choose hurtful words.
Also, the loop-less signature and the vertical lines in it suggest that Swamy likes to make direct statements without beating around the bush. In fact, his handwriting suggests it is tough for him to be diplomatic.
Additionally, the moderate right slant of Subramanian Swamy signature points to the fact that though Subramanian Swamy appears unrestrained in his reactions, he is very much in control and has taken care to ensure that he does not fall into trouble because of his words.
