Every time I analyse someone’s handwriting, I’m asked the same question: “You can tell all that from just my signature?” The answer is a resounding “yes!” Handwriting is quite revealing – like a snowflake, no two are the same.
A person’s signature exposes the truth about who they are in public and provides valuable and extremely useful information regarding their social interactions with others.
Most importantly, a signature represents a well-crafted and practised image since signatures are created, personalized, and used over and over again.
As a professional handwriting analyst, I can tell you what you should look for in your mate’s signature. Here are just a few tell-tale signs and personality reveals to get you started:
1. Size does matter
Look at the size of the first initial of their first name and first initial of their last name. Which one is larger? Are they approximately the same size? Is one noticeably smaller than the other?
If the first name initial is larger than the last name initial, the person has a big ego. If it’s smaller, they are on the shy side. If the initials are the same size, they are well balanced and most likely have a good relationship with their family (see #3 for more family details).

2. Details, details, details
Do they dot the i’s and cross the t’s? If not, don’t expect them to pay attention to the details in your relationship. They are generally big picture people who do not want to be bothered with the nitty-gritty aspects of life.
The lack of detail in their signature could also mean they tend to rush through life, so naturally things fall by the wayside. Don’t expect them to pick up on your subtle mood changes or other “under the radar” behaviour.
3. Family ties
How close is their first name to their last name? Is there a large gap in between? If so, assume there is a large gap between them and their family. The gap could be logistical (living far from each other/rarely seeing each other) or emotional (detachment/lack of love or closeness).
